Ottawa/CMEDIA: New offers to Canada Post were reportedly presented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) seeking higher wages than the Crown corporation’s latest proposal.
Canada Post’s most recent offers were rejected by the Unionized workers in a direct vote earlier this month.
A lack of federal government mediators delayed plans to rekindle talks late last week.
The postal service’s dispute, claimed the CUPW, has stretched on for more than a year and a half.
The Crown corporation’s latest offer, which probably included wage hikes of around 13 percent over four years and added part-timers to the workforce, was rejected by unionized postal workers a few weeks ago.
While upholding a ban on overtime work in the meantime, the union says it has prepared offers that meet members’ demands.
