Ottawa/CMEDIA: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reportedly said that after being exposed to COVID-19 he will be self-isolating for five days, following Ottawa Public Health guidance.
This morning Trudeau said in a tweet after learning about the exposure Wednesday night.
“I feel fine and will be working from home,” he tweeted. “Stay safe, everyone — and please get vaccinated.”
After reportedly taking a rapid test, he said he was negative and feeling fine and will be working from home.
This incident occurred immediately after Justin Trudeau wrapped up his virtual retreat with his cabinet, but he said that he had seen some ministers standing alongside him during an in-person press conference on Parliament Hill on Wednesday night.
The ministers present with Trudeau for the event were Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly, and Defence Minister Anita Anand.
So far it has not been indicated by any of these ministers that they are also in isolation.
According to the timing of his exposure, Trudeau will not be physically in the House of Commons on Monday, which resumes after the holiday break.
Trudeau’s self-isolation over the weekend would also coincide with the arrival of the convoy of truckers in Ottawa.
